If you take in what some religions say animals do not have souls and man is king, man may be intelligent and achieve great things although this does not constitute a soul.
I can speak from living with cats I must say they are more giving and passionate and when you look into their loving faces and eyes you can feel their soul, they have emotions, feelings, fear just like us, long memories too.
They may not fear death like some of us do, when my Spot was dying from aids you could feel his love and in a way a soul presence, he showed the same stresses as we do, he knew his time was up when I had to make that final decision.
If the soul is near where the heart is and moves on shortly after death why not animals one night, I felt my cat jump on the bed when there was no cat in the room, I guess when passing the soul and spirit stays where it is wanted and the happy memory of where they were they choose to be, to let us know they are here.
Even if man is made in god’s creation and superior of this land as creatures of the earth, why should the heavens not be full of singing birds and animals of all kinds whose spirits roam within the living giving guidance and a presence of tranquillity knowledge space and travel with no boundaries.
According to an article on this subject it stated that : Most interpreters of the Bible assume that man’s likeness to God and animals’ subservience to man implies that animals have the "breath of life," nephesh chay in Hebrew (Genesis 1:30), but not an immortal soul in the same sense as man’s.
One thing is definite we will all die some day and when that day comes we will know if animals are with us in the afterlife with a soul which I believe they do have, I feel their being and their unconditional love every day and see how they help people in time of need and seem to understand us better than we understand them, I am convinced they have a soul and spirit.
